Posed newborn photography
Within my newborn photography sessions i do a mixture of posed newborn photograph and unposed newborn photos. We will have a chat at the beginning of the session and talk about your preferred poses if you have any that you have seen from my portfolio and then go from there. I will usually start newborn sessions with wrapped poses as these tend to make your baby more sleepy which is a great start for the newborn session! I love being creative during sessions and every little baby has their own personality, even at a week old there are always those cute little traits that parents will discover about their newborn 😊
Must have newborn photos
Front pose hands on chin
I Love this newborn pose, how cute is that little face! This is quite a popular pose that i get asked for a lot during newborn sessions. This way you can see all of their cute little features, that little nose and those adorable chubby cheeks, how can it not make you smile!
Newborn Side pose
This is a beautiful natural newborn pose that a lot of babies will just end up getting into. If you are new to newborn photography this is quite an easy pose to do during a session. Just get a pillow and a soft wrap and lay the baby on their side, slowing place the hand under their cheek and you will get the sweetest photos!
Wrapped from above in a prop
There's quite a lot of different posed newborn photos you can do by wrapping the baby. You can wrap the baby in a few different ways, either with a full wrap or showing their feet like in this photo. Posing the newborn in a basket and photographing from above is a newborn pose i tend to do in every session. You can also add a cute little teddy bear in the babies hands as well, this is always a favourite.
Side bum up pose
Another favourite newborn pose which a lot of parents ask for is this this pose. Posing baby on their belly on the side with their head facing the front. With every newborn pose i will photograph it in every angle, the front, from above and then those close ups are always a must. This is a beautiful natural newborn pose that will always create beautiful newborn photos.
Front pose in bucket
Who doesn't love a newborn posed in a bucket 😍 Posing the newborn for this pose is very similar to the first photo posing the baby with their chin under their hands and then placing then in the bucket. For this posse you must know how to fill and pad the bucket properly and also have a weight in the bottom of the bucket for safety.
Posed newborn photography
Posing newborns with and without props, there is so much you can do. As well as the posed newborn photos above i love including parents hands in the newborn photos. The photos below show some different ways you can wrap the newborn as well as different props you can use to pose them on while wrapped. Some parents don't want to be in the photographs so photographing them just with their hands in the photos is a great way to include them.
